My assumption:-I am using vmware 6.0 to install my copy of ubuntu9.04(1 GB RAM, 1 GB swap space, 8 GB hard disk). You can make it dual boot with any other operating system also. Before installing any OS first decide the following:-
1. Decide the hard disk space?
2. Decide the swap space?
3. Decide the purpose and the amount of data you need to back up?
4. Decide whether your system will have only Ubuntu 9.04 or you planning to make it dual boot with any other OS?
Insert the Ubuntu 9.04 installation disk, restart your system and following screen will appear.(If you are using vmware then start your virtual machine). Follow the steps:-
STEP 1:-
Select the option ‘Install Ubuntu‘.

I have already mentioned that i used live cd as my host system. You can download the required iso image from the LFS site.I used the version
lfslivecd-x86-6.3-r2160.iso
Here is the configuration of VMware Machine I used for LFS project.
Workstation : 6
Operating system : Other Linux 2.6.x kernel
Number of Processor : 2
Memory or Ram (MB) : 1024
Network Type : NAT (Network Address Translation)
I/O Adapter type : LSI Logic
Disk Type : SCSI
Disk Capacity (GB) : 8(split into 2GB files)
It took me 2 weeks to develop the LFS system(with regular breaks in between).Time required to complete the LFS project purely depends on the configuration of system and the breaks you take in between. It could vary from 2 days to 2 months and even more…..
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
